Modern technology has intoxicated mankind with a fast paced communication system which is immensely ahead of our mental capacities. New communication technologies have an immense impact on our social interaction and way of life. Generally people praise these new technologies because they have taken their place in society as an extension of the human body.
In a time where the extended humankind is faster, more intelligent and can teleport themselves digitally people forget the importance of taking time to contemplate. Taking a step back to look at life is a vital part of achieving success and happiness. Modern metropolitan society, more then ever before, needs a place to escape to, a place to stimulate thinking and fantasy.
However.
Does such a place exist? And what form would such a place take?
Researching the origin of a need to escape, Adrian Woods went back to his childhood. As a child it is common to build a hut, a small safe place, away from the big world to fantasize, and feel safe. Is it possible to get the same result and feeling as one would get as a child? Or is it a romanticized thought of escaping the fast lane? By creating fairytale like situations, Adrian Woods his goal is reminding people of the necessity of periodically escaping the fast lane, but meanwhile stimulating debate about if this is ever possible. Is being unreachable unreachable?
Work in progress.
